G.Network Full Fibre Voice FAQs.
What is VoIP?
The underlying technology for FFV is VoIP. Voice over IP (VoIP) allows you to make and receive phone calls using the internet instead of traditional telephone lines. The system can be hosted in the cloud making it readily accessible, high availability, flexible and easy to scale as per your business needs.
How can I get Full Fibre Voice?
You will need to call our sales team to set up an order. Please note, to get Full Fibre Voice, you must be a G.Network customer, i.e. have one of our Full Fibre Broadband (FFB) products, as an internet connection is required for the voice service. For more information, please contact sales@g.network
Is call quality better with Full Fibre Voice?
You will hear a vast improvement in call quality compared to traditional landlines. Landlines do not have as much audio bandwidth (network capacity), which can result in muffled or fuzzy calls. VoIP calls achieve this through HD Voice technology. So, with Full Fibre Voice, you're bound to get the best!
What are the benefits of using Full Fibre Voice?
Some of the benefits include cost savings (no line rental, spend less on infrastructure, upkeep and call rates, money-saving call plans), increased flexibility, scale as you like and enhanced features such as video conferencing and voicemail-to-email transcription. It can also make working remotely much easier for workers and employees. You get more for your money – many professional features come free of charge like time-based call routing, voicemail to email and follow-me.
What are the advantages of Full Fibre Voice for my small business (SME)?
Key benefits include saving up to 40% on call rates, free customer support, totally managed services, follow-me numbers, professional call routing and IVR menus and more.
Is Full Fibre Voice secure?
It can be secure if it is set up correctly and if appropriate security measures are taken. This may include encrypting your calls and using secure passwords.
What is the PTSN switch off and will I be affected?
Traditional telephony services are being replaced by VoIP technology in the cloud. This change, known as the PSTN switch-off, will be complete by 2025. If you currently use telephony services, you'll need to switch to VoIP solutions for uninterrupted communication.
Am I able to make international calls using Full Fibre Voice?
Yes, is the short answer. While not part of your inclusive monthly minutes, you’ll still be able to make international calls.
Can I use my regular phone with Full Fibre Voice?
Currently this is not possible without testing your device as there are some compatibility related checks we need to make. We have a list of approved and certified handsets that you can choose from. For more information, please contact sales@g.network.
Can I keep my existing phone number?
Most users will be able to keep their existing phone number. If need more information about keeping your current number, please get in touch with us on voip.team@g.network.
What is an IP phone and what are the benefits?
IP Phones use the internet to send and receive voice data, unlike traditional phones that rely on landlines for analog signals. They connect to the internet through a router and modem.
Compared to analog phones, IP Phones offer clear advantages. They come with a wide range of features such as local phone directories, memory keys, presence indicators, color screens, and do not disturb functionality.
Can I make calls if there is a power cut?
Full-Fibre Voice operates through our full fibre broadband network. In the event of a local power cut, your phone service will be affected, and you won't be able to make or receive calls, including emergency services. Only when power is restored, calls will connect to 999 services. To ensure your safety during power cuts or network outages, we strongly recommend having an alternative way to contact emergency services.
How can I access features like instant chat, HD video conferencing, virtual meeting room?
You will need to purchase either our standard or premium package, which comes with the UC-One app.
How do I get the UC-one app?
For mobile phones, you will need to download the UC-One app from either Google Playstore or Apple Store.
For laptops and tablets, you will be able to download the UC-One app from your user portal. Once your voice service is ready to use, our expert VoIP team will email a weblink to you, where you can setup a user portal.
