Principal Field Engineer (Fault Resolution)
The quality/resilience of our network and delivering exceptional service to our customers are top priorities at G.Network, to help support this we are creating a dedicated fault resolution team. This team will be responsible for looking after our network 247, ensuring that faults &amp; outages are repaired within SLA, root causes are established and the planning team is supplied with updated network records. The team will also be responsible for other improvements to our network including network audits &amp; capacity upgrades whilst not responding to faults.
We are looking for highly skilled &amp; experienced engineers who have a passion for improving our network to join the team. You will need a comprehensive knowledge of our network, don&rsquo;t worry if you only have experience of our core or access network as we&rsquo;ll be looking to pair engineers to cover the full skill set and facilitate cross-skilling. You will also need an eye for detail, possess exceptional problem solving skills and be comfortable working to deadlines.
What you&rsquo;ll do
<ul>
<li>Attend, diagnose and fix faults &amp; outages within the following remit:
<ul>
<li>Outages impacting 10G or premium customers with a 5hr SLA</li>
<li>Outages impacting 5 customers or more</li>
<li>Outages below 5 customers in breach of next business day SLA</li>
<li>VIP customers/complaints</li>
<li>Cab outages</li>
<li>Vulnerable customers</li>
<li>Outages that cause critical network resilience issues</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>Work closely with the Incident Management team, NOC &amp; your supervisor to identify &amp; fix faults</li>
<li>Diagnose the root cause of outages and fix or if not possible provide details to planning team so that a permanent fix can be planned &amp; implemented.</li>
<li>Following fault resolution, provide detailed &amp; accurate network records to the planning team</li>
<li>Audit chambers &amp; cabinets and provide detailed updates to planning team (when not attending faults)</li>
<li>Perform capacity upgrades (when not attending faults)</li>
<li>Carry out area surveys and risk assessments</li>
<li>Produce method statements</li>
</ul>
Working hours
<ul>
<li>Working pattern 4 days on, 4 days off</li>
<li>Shift duration: 12 hours</li>
<li>Shift times:
<ul>
<li>Day: 6am &ndash; 6pm</li>
<li>Night: 6pm &ndash; 6am</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>Generally we&rsquo;ll ask you to work two blocks on days and one block on nights on a rotation, however this may flex to cover business needs &amp; absences. We will not ask you to work days &amp; nights within the same block.</li>
<li>Night working allowance included for night shift.</li>
</ul>
Skills, experience and qualifications (essential)
<ul>
<li>Exceptional fault finding &amp; diagnostic skills</li>
<li>Comprehensive knowledge of our network (either core or access, but ideally both)</li>
<li>Exceptional fibre splicing skills</li>
<li>Comfortable reading, interpreting &amp; providing updates of fibre plans</li>
<li>Excellent problem solving skills</li>
<li>iOLM/OTDR testing</li>
<li>Eye for detail and ability to work in delicate enclosures</li>
<li>Excellent communication skills both with internal stakeholders and customers</li>
<li>UK valid driving license with no more than 6 points</li>
