Works Coordinator (Construction)

Your primary responsibility will be the construction works planning, stakeholder communications and creation of works packs for our street works teams to install our fibre optic network across the London area.

When required, you will also work as a Supervisor overseeing work on site. In this element of the role, you will be required to ensure direct labour is working in accordance with risk assessments and method statements on the delivery of our network infrastructure build.  Liaising with various stakeholders including traffic management. You will responsible for managing health & safety, quality and co-ordinating site works whilst driving programme.

About The Role

To be considered for this position you must have a civil engineering background and have previous highways experience. The work will involve trenching, ducting, chamber building and highways reinstatement work.

Main roles Responsibilities:

  • Pre-planning & programming streetworks
  • Pre-works Stakeholder communication
  • Pre-works Site co-ordination meeting
  • Site work pack preparation
  • Managing health & safety and quality on site
  • Driving programmes ensuring time lines are achieved.

Support responsibilities:

  • Day to Day co-ordination of gangs on site
  • Managing site kerbing; concrete work; paving and slabbing; laying asphalt; iron works; ducting and trenching ; building highway chambers
  • Manage risk mitigation and recovery plans.
  • Co-ordinate site works & traffic management
  • Ensuring permit condition are met
  • Liaise with various stakeholders

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Evidence of programming & planning civil engineering works
  • Detailed knowledge of the London permitting scheme (LoPS) and NRSWA requirements
  • NRSWA Operator Units of Competence:
    • Unit 1 - Location and avoidance of underground apparatus
    • Unit 10 - Monitoring signing, lighting and guarding.
    • Unit 11 - Monitoring excavation in the highway.
    • Unit 12 - Monitoring reinstatement and compaction of backfill materials.
    • Unit 13 - Monitoring reinstatement of sub-base and road base in non-bituminous materials.
    • Unit 14 - Monitoring reinstatement in bituminous materials.
    • Unit 15 - Monitoring reinstatement of concrete slabs.
    • Unit 16 - Monitoring reinstatement of modular surfaces and concrete footways. 
  • CSCS Safety Card
  • SSSTS or SMSTS
  • CDM awareness
  • Customer / stakeholder communication training
  • Emergency First Aid
  • Proven IT skills (Word / Excel)
