Project and Cost Accountant

Reporting to the Accounts payable Manager, the Project and Cost Accountant is accountable for monitoring the progress of projects, investigating variances, reconciling statements and managing the timely processing and payment of supplier costs. 

The timely and accurate project reporting to be provided will play a key role in the future growth and profitability of the business.  The role supports the Accounts Payable Manager in order to ensure that all department functional objectives are met or exceeded.  

What you'll do:

  • Working with Accounts Payable Manager to implement best of class project costing processes for G Network. 
  • Create projects in the accounting system. 
  • Maintain project-related records within the CRM system. 
  • Ensure timely Purchase Orders, with supporting documentation, related to a project. 
  • Working closely with the Commercial Management team to review and approve supplier invoices related to a project. 
  • Timely and accurate posting of supplier invoices to projects. 
  • Timely payment processing of supplier invoices, relating to a project. 
  • Review and reconcile measure sheets for work related to a project. 
  • Investigate project variances and submit variance reports to management. 
  • Report on project profitability to management. 
  • Assist the Commercial Management team in any project related queries. 
  • Close out project accounts upon project completion. 
  • Compile information for auditors, as required. 
  • Reconcile the Supplier Statements, prior to payment. 
  • Assist the Accounts Payable Manager with any adhoc projects 

Skills, experience and qualifications (required):

  • Minimum of three years in accounting/finance 
  • Minimum of one year as project accountant desirable 
  • Direct experience of capital intensive business desirable 
  • Intermediate user proficiency with Excel/Google Sheets 
  • Salesforce or similar CRM experience desirable 
  • Aptitude for accurately and reliably following detailed procedures 
  • Ability to work to clear timetable, prioritise and manage own work 
  • Fast, observant, organised and self disciplined 
  • Able and willing to work as part of a team 
  • Disciplined, excellent organiser, completer-finisher 

Skills, experience and qualifications (preferred):

  • Direct experience of capital intensive business desirable
  • Salesforce or similar CRM experience desirable
